I've spent every day repenting my mistakes. I'm begging you, please give me the opportunity to become a better person!

Mei Piyan (Chinese: 梅琵艳 Méi Píyàn), also known as Aunt May (Chinese: 梅姨 Méi Yí), is a minor antagonist who appeared in Season 1 of the Link Click donghua series. She was a serial human trafficker and was responsible for the kidnapping of Li Doudou.

Story

On a busy day at Dou Dou Milk Tea, the owners' son Li Doudou was playing by himself outside of the store. Seizing the opportunity, Mei Piyan posed as the child's aunt and kidnapped him using a drugged ball.[1]

For 3 years, Li Doudou's parents made tireless efforts to search for their missing child. The father heard rumors about Time Photo Studio's "see into past photos" service and sought their help. After one failed attempt to track down the kidnapper, Cheng Xiaoshi entered a photo taken by Doudou himself, allowing him to see the events unfold from the child's perspective. The kidnapped Doudou was taken to a hotel, and Cheng Xiaoshi was able identify the kidnapper by finding her ID during her sleep. However, Mei Piyan had woken up at that moment, ready to teach the child a lesson. Much to her surprise, she would instead receive a proper beating from Cheng Xiaoshi, whose powers allowed him to retain his original physical capabilities. He told Mei Piyan that she was destined to be arrested in three years, and that she should take good care of the child until then. The horrified kidnapper asked him who he was, to which he responded "I am your ancestor" before exiting the photo.[1]

Left in great shock, Mei Piyan's weighed on her, and she believed that an ancestor had truly descended to make her change her ways. With the identity of the kidnapper finally found, an arrest was swiftly made, and Li Doudou was found. After being arrested, Mei Piyan swore that since that day, she had never trafficked another child, that she had raised Doudou as if he was her own child, and that she had repented her past mistakes every single day.[1]

Trivia

  • Mei Piyan's name and appearance are based on a real human trafficker in China known as "Aunt Mei" (梅姨).
    • Mei Piyan's name is also a derogatory pun on "没屁眼" (méi pìyǎn), which literally means "no butthole."
    • Although Mei Piyan is captured in the donghua, the real-life "Aunt Mei" was never captured. The police were unable to find any record of her existence, only going off eyewitness reports for her name, height, weight, and job.
